Last week-end found me greatly anticipating a trip to Corkbuzz Wine Studio in Charlotte. They have another location in New York City so needless to say, I had great expectations! I made a reservation on Open Table and arrived on time. The bar was full but most tables were open. They wanted to give a table right in front of the door. I was told by the hostess they were overbooked but she would check. She found a better table and we were greeted by our server. He was friendly and told us they were doing well with only 3 servers……uh oh! They do offer 35 wines by the glass and over 150 bottles along with appetizers and main courses. The wine was good but the food was lacking. The cheese and meat platter was good but the ribeye was greatly lacking in flavor and was greatly overpriced. Service was slow and we left not feeling overly impressed. So we headed down Fairview to one of my Charlotte favorites, Foxcroft Wine Co. The staff is so friendly so we had their world famous donuts which are not to be missed! Last stop of the night was Petite Philipe on Selwyn which is always on point! Excellent staff with great wine selections.
Lastly, for those of you who live in Charlotte, make sure to seek out Joe’s Doughs. This young guy is making world class donuts and sells them at Charlotte Daily Press a couple of times a month. Always a line and they sell out in about 40 minutes but so worth it! Also, follow Hex Coffee who are also doing pop ups in Charlotte. They make stellar coffee and homemade waffles!
Have a great week! xo
This time of year, I find myself visiting every local farmer’s market. Last week, I stopped at Kings Drive Farmers Market and to my surprise they had my very favorite Bush and Vine strawberries. Of course, I bought a gallon! We used several in salads and for a quick snack but I had a great deal left so after a bit of searching on Pinterest, I found this cake and it was amazing. I am not a big “cake” person but this left me wanting more! Super easy and good excuse to use the extra strawberries. Here is the recipe from A Spicy Perspective:
Today marks my first day in the blogger world. So many of you ask me where I find places to go, things to see and more importantly what I am eating and drinking. I have decided share my adventures with you weekly! Most of the time you will find me out and about in Charlotte but I will include my travels as well as any interesting sites I find that typically pertain to food, wine or fitness! Yesterday, I had the great fortune of attending a Rose Wine Tasting at Foxcroft Wine Company. It was over 90 degrees outside but they did a great job of pouring over 30 rose wines as well as wonderful appetizers! The wine distributors were friendly and enthusiastic! If you have not been to Foxcroft Wine Company, I would encourage you to stop in for a glass of wine and stay for the food! Needless to say, I left with a case of Rose!
